College Timeline
Fall
- Sign up for a MyEducationQuest account, if you haven't already
- Make sure you're on track to meet graduation and college admission requirements
- Attend a Virtual Financial Aid Program
- Apply to your top college choices
- Create a Federal Student Aid Account (one for you and one for a parent)
- Complete the FAFSA on or after October 1
- Expect a Student Aid Report (SAR) via an email link
- Retake the ACT and/or SAT
- Get serious about applying for scholarships
- Request letters of recommendation for scholarship applications
- Sign up for Countdown2College email service
- If you haven't already, visit your top college choices
Winter
- Watch for acceptance letters from the colleges you applied to
- Watch for communication from the colleges you applied to
- Be prepared for verification
- Expect financial aid award notifications from the college(s) you listed on your FAFSA
- Update your Activities Resume
Spring
- Compare your financial aid award notifications
- If you haven't yet decided which college to attend, participate in the Virtual College Fair
- Continue to apply for scholarships
- Make your final college decisions
- Submit your campus housing registration fee and deposit
- Register for new-student orientation at your college
- Apply for a summer job
Summer
- Attend new-student orientation at your college
- Apply for student and parent loans, if needed
- Contact your roommate to coordinate dorm purchases
- Set up a budget for college expenses
